01 · The story

Silver that connects generations

Inspired by India's living craft traditions

In India, silver has long been more than ornament. It is worn every day, given at weddings and passed down from one generation to the next. Each region developed its own language in silver: the fine wire filigree of Cuttack, known as tarakasi; the silver filigree of Karimnagar in Telangana; and the bold neck rings, kadas and anklets of tribal communities across the country.

These are living traditions. Cuttack and Karimnagar filigree both carry Geographical Indication tags, and their techniques are still taught from parent to child. The Silver Chronicles honours that ancestry with forms drawn from these crafts and finished for the way we dress today.

04 · The symbolism

What the motifs mean

Peacock

India's national bird, a symbol of beauty and grace. It is associated with Kartikeya, and its feather with Krishna.

Lotus

It rises clean from muddy water, and across Indian traditions it stands for purity.

Paisley (ambi)

The mango-shaped ambi is one of India's most familiar ornamental forms, widely associated with abundance.

Ghungroo

Small bells borrowed from dance anklets, whose sound announces the wearer's presence.

05 · The craftsmanship

Silver Oxidised pieces keep the texture of the hand. The oxidising is lighter, so that the technique stays the hero.

  1. 1

    Drawing the wire

In filigree work, silver is drawn into very fine wire, twisted and flattened.

  2. 2

    Framing and filling

A frame of thicker wire is filled with tiny coils and scrolls, then soldered together.

  3. 3

    Light oxidising

A gentle oxidising brings the grey into the gaps and gives an heirloom softness.

  4. 4

    Hand finishing

The surface is brushed and polished by hand to bring out the texture of each coil.
